The Catholic Church has received a call to increase its investment in service projects aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of individuals. Dr. Criscent Tumuhaise, the Executive Director of Nkozi Hospital in Kampala Archdiocese, made these remarks during the Easter Mass at Kitabi Parish. The head of Laity at Kitabi Parish, Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha, presented a Parish development plan that included the establishment of a girls upper primary school and a health facility.
Dr. Tumuhaise, who also serves as the head of the Health Council of The Arch-Diocese of Mbarara development association, encouraged the Kitabi Community to set up a hospital-level health facility and adequately equip it to complement the existing government facility in Kitagata. The Catholic Church is renowned for its social investment, particularly in healthcare. Esteemed health facilities such as Lubaga Hospital, Nkozi Hospital, Kisubi Hospital, and Nsambya hospitals in Kampala Archdiocese have been at the forefront of providing innovative and quality care.
During his attendance at the event, Dr. Tumuhaise was appointed as the Patron of St. Denis Choir at Kitabi Parish and pledged his support for all choir activities to maintain the parish’s prominence. Additionally, the Bushenyi District Chairman LC5, Hon. Jafari Basajjabalaba, promised to continue backing church initiatives, including schools and hospitals, due to their significant impact on local communities.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Katusiime Hillary, emphasized the importance of hard work and discouraged behaviors such as alcohol abuse and idleness among parishioners. He also highlighted the need to provide increased support, particularly to the Boy Child, who has not benefited as much from current social development efforts compared to girls. The Kitabi Parish Community was commended for their proactive approach in initiating these important projects.
