The body was discovered on Thursday morning at Rubanga Bridge, which connects Rukiri I and Akatojo ward. According to police reports, the victim was found suspended from the bridge’s metal structures.

A team of homicide detectives from Ntungamo Central Police Station and Rubaare, led by Sgt. Elinah Asiimwe, visited and documented the scene. Preliminary physical examinations revealed visible bruises on the neck and two cut ropes, suggesting the victim may have been strangled before being hanged to stage a suicide.

Beside the body, detectives recovered a laptop bag containing wet clothing, including trousers and shirts.

Geoffrey Karuhanga, the area chairperson, stated that he was alerted to the grim discovery at approximately 8:00 AM by a boda boda cyclist.

“I received a call from the LCII Chairperson, Naboth Sekyondwa, confirming the incident. We proceeded to the scene and found the body hanging under the bridge metals before alerting the police,” Karuhanga told investigators.

Body of Rwandan National found suspended under Rubanga Bridge after he was allegedly killed by unknown people.

In an attempt to track the assailants, police deployed a canine unit. However, Sgt. Asiimwe noted that the tracking dog lost the scent because the scene had been heavily tampered with by curious onlookers before the police arrived.

The body has been retrieved and conveyed to Itojo Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police have called upon members of the public who may have information regarding the deceased’s movements or his relatives to come forward. No arrests have been made yet as inquiries continue.
