Former Kole county member of parliament also the UPC Secretary General, Hon. Fred Ebil has exhibited experiences of representing Uganda to the East African Legislative Assembly – EALA.

The UPC EALA candidate, Ebil says that he has gained enough experience from the regional summits and he knows what the East African Government wants.

He therefore seeks to get support from the 11th parliament who are the electorates to EALA parliament.

“Dear Honourable, warm greetings and thank you for selflessly serving our motherland, Uganda. I’m requesting you and all members of the 11th parliament to kindly support and vote for me as EALA MP 2022-2027” writes Ebil in support mobilization message.

He also vows to implement East African single currency a well as bringing the East African Federation to reality when voted into service.

He notes that much as the Federation is indeed needed, it cannot be fulfilled without the currency integration of all the member states of the East African Community.

He is optimistic that currency integration will foster regional federation stating that thexisting bodies like Customs Union, The Common Market Protocol, The Monetary Union, they have not much effect as the currency union would have in bringing the Federation to life.

Through his expertise as a former legislator in national parliament during which he attended numerous summits in the region, Ebil also vows to pursue the priorities of the East African Community (2022-2027) which include full implementation of the single customs territory, enhancing domestication and implementation of regional commitments in line with the EAC common market protocol, attainment of the East African single currency, straightening regional peace, security and good governance, development of quality, multi-dimensional strategic infrastructure, institutional transformation of all East African organs and institutions; including EALA itself and increasing visibility of East African Community stakeholder knowledge and awareness.

The East African Federation has been in constant discussion over the past years since 1963 among EAC members. It will be an integration of all East African Community member states where they will be enjoying the befitting benefits of such an amalgamation. These benefits range from social, economic and political aspects and will befit every citizen in the Federation.

The parliament of Uganda set September 20th, the voting date for representatives to EALA. At least 9 representatives will be voted including 6 members from the ruling NRM.
