MC Katala made these remarks during an interview with Parrotsug, where he revealed his idea to establish MC Promotions a record label which has completely transformed the industry ruling out the traditional models used in the past centuries.

He said the Mc Promotions is a combination of talents which has not only uplifted talents but also promoted entertainment in the region.

Through using digital technologies such as social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms like YouTube, Huwe, MC promotions has been able to raise brands of artists, comedians and others in the performing arts as well as distributing copies of their  nationwide something that has put western entertainment industry on the nob.

According to him, the company offers contracts or enter into partnerships with artists who they opt to use new technologies, hold live concerts and mainstream media as a way to gain popularity.

Amid corona virus precedents, MC Katala believes social media has become an influential tool for artists and their management teams.

He appeals to artists, comedians to adopt to the new norm if they were to make it in the industry.

However, he  pointed out the restrictions on gatherings due to COVID-19 pandemic as one of the challenges affecting music industry.

How MC promotions started.

Having realised the need to uplift talent in western uganda to compete with other regions in the music industry, Mc Katala found it influential to start up a promotion agency which would see growth in the western Uganda talents.

The idea to start MC Promotions began first with promoting MCs, and thereafter gaining momentum, a string of other increasing sophisticated services immediately followed suit.

Other services offered includes; Events Emceeing, Music Promotion, Brand Ambassador, Music composition (both gospel and secular music).

MC Katala was quick to narrate how he started by posting songs of Ali Mj alias Musinguzi Ali, the Oture Nanye hit maker, Lady Aisha and few members of the group on his “Egidio MC Katala” Facebook page and steadily kept on signing other artists.

Today, many artists from Western and Central Uganda have benefited from this company the latest signed being MerikUg aka Racheal Kuhimbisa of Merik Muzik, the voices behind Battery Low, Nkwagala and Wano Wano hit maker.

MC promotions also partners with music groups, manufucturing companies in promoting their music and product brands. These include among others; Emily Kikazi, Pen Patra, Nivious Nassanga, Farm Breweries, Mukama Nayamba to mention but a few.

The company targets to raise talents among the children under the age of 13 whom they believe are the pillars of the future music industry in Uganda.

MC Katala told Parrotsug that move to register MC Promotions with Uganda Performers Right Society (UPRS) and Uganda Registration Services Bureau as a Promotion Agency.
