Four people believed to be leaders of a criminal gang that has been reportedly terrorizing Kabale have been arrested.
Their arrest follow an intelligence-led operations by Kabale territorial police in areas believed to be hideouts of the gang.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson says the suspects are part of the renowned habitual criminals that have been on the most wanted list terrorizing Kabale municipality.
“The four were arrested last night from their individual hideout within the municipal council,” he said.
Maate identified the suspects as Joshua Akanyijuka aka Tony, Cliff Amanya aka Wiclif, Bruce Tukamushaba aka Killer man and Augustine Christmas aka Tigita.
“All these people have on several occasions been arrested, taken to court and to prison, but once are released, they start from where they stopped, an indication that they are never rehabilitated,” Maate explained.
Police has urged residents who have complaints against suspects to report to CPS Kabale so that inquiries into their case files can continue.
Maate noted that these operations will continue taking place in order to create sanity in the region.
