Gomba Ssaza coach, Ibrahim Kirya is more than confident that his team will come out of the group stages this season compared to last season.
“We are going to do everything that it takes to see Gomba prospering,and am very confident that we shall come out of the group stages this time around than last season where we only acquired four points in five games which stopped us to continue with the competition.” Kirya noted.
Similarly,Felix Kawooya the technical director believes having one player per department will help the team to seek for the fifth Masaza cup trophy.
“It is always good to have more than one player per department because this brings a health competition on the team and this will help us to seek for the trophy for the fifth edition.”Kawooya Stated.
The note of confidence to win the fifth trophy is evident on the signature acquisition of instrumental record players like Emmanuel Derrick Were a three time winning goal keeper alongside Nasser Lukwago Ssali,right back From Bithum Henry who is attached to Masaka based club Synergy fc.
Other players who have put pen on paper for Gomba include,Isaac Ogwang,Bashir Lubinga, Ibrahim Kasinde,Richard Basangwa,Ben Nambokho,Ponsiano Ssegonja,and Sharif Nsereko.
The four time Masaza cup winners will be under the stewardship of Coach Ibrahim Kirya,Dennis Kizito ad an assistant coach,Mubaraka Kiberu as goalkeeping coach and Felix Kawooya as a technical director.
Gomba won Masaza cup in 2004,2009,2014, and 2017.
The Masaza tournament competitions will be played when the lockdown is lifted to avoid the wide spread of novel Corona virus.
