India electric appliances manufacturers’ exhibitors dominated on day one at the International Power and Electricity Expo, which kick started on Thursday at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) showground in Kampala on Thursday.

HI-MEC Industries, India’s Punjab based high voltage battery manufacturers, seemed to lead the show on day one.https://admissions.kiu.ac.ug/

“We have the ultimate aim of giving customer only the best. We believe that a product strategy is one route to commercial success. Our Automotive, Inverter and Solar Battery range incorporate features leveraging the world’s latest Japanese Technology to ensure optimum performance, life and reliability especially in abnormal ambient temperature conditions”, said Mr. Mohit Sharma, HI-MEC sales manager.

He said HI-MEC started manufacturing under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Prem Kishore Dhand in 1986, and established a new plant at Himachal Pradesh in 2010, growing the business with an experience of more than 35 years in the manufacturing field.

Aatous International Pvt Ltd, Manufacturers of Lead Acid Batteries boasted of leading Battery manufacturers established in 2004 with wide range of Ultra Low Maintenance Lead Acid Battery (LMLA) for different applications ideally suitable for Solar, Substations, Inverter, Telecommunications, Home Lighting, Automotive Segment, Semi-traction Batteries for Golf Cart, Scissor Lift, and Floor Cleaning Machine among others.

“We have also developed a high range of Tubular Gel VRLA Batteries for Solar application with zero maintenance”, said Mr.G.Prasanna, the Director Production, based in Maharashtra, India.

Other exhibitors included ERL Phase Power Technologies-Canada, leading manufacturers of Protection relays and Disturbance recorders for nearly two decades, according to Mr. Praveen Koul, the Head of Sales.

Mr. Praveen said their product range includes Disturbance recorders, Feeder protection relays, Transformer protection relays, Busbar protection relays, Line protection relays and Test Block and plugs.

“The application is the power sector Transmission, Distribution and Industrial market. These products are widely used globally due to reliability, ease of operation and dependability and these are much easier to install and operate”, said Mr. Praveen.

Ms. Grace Tusiime, the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development welcomed exhibitors to Uganda and promised them cordial treatment, saying Ugandan people are a friendly community who love to interact with foreigners and people of all walks of life.

Ms. Tusiime said the Government of Uganda, under the leadership of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), is committed to promote Innovative technologies, create awareness, and foster Sustainable collaborations in the Power Sector.

The Expo, which runs from 11th to 13th July 2024, runs under the theme: “Connect with the Power, Energy, Electrical, Electronics, Lighting, Renewable and Solar and Related Industries in Uganda”.

According to Ms. Tusiime, the expo is expected to bring together several stakeholders ranging from; policy makers, manufacturers and suppliers of power products to importers and exporters dealing in electrical, electronics, renewable, and solar products and other renewable energy technologies.

“This expo will provide networking, partnership and business opportunities in Uganda’s power sector with global players from India, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and other regions”, she said.
