Recent information from Spain indicate that the Spanish La Liga is to resume very soon.
This was revealed by Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez while addressing the nation on a range of Corona virus issues on Saturday.
“Spain has done what it should and now new horizons are opening for everyone. The time has come to resume many daily activities. From June 8, LaLiga will return to football,” Sanchez stated.
Clubs have returned to training, although social distancing rules have been followed and full group sessions have not yet been able to take place.
Matches will have to be played behind closed doors, but Sanchez’s announced that gov’t has to allow the 2019-20 season to play to a completion.
La Liga was suspended in March due to the spread of the pandemic Corona virus that dragged the whole globe into health crisis.
Barcelona was still on the top of the log with a two-point lead over Real Madrid with every team having 11 games still to play.
The league will open up with a derby clash between Real Betis and Sevilla.
