The country yesterday woke up on the Upsetting News that the once referred to as the Ivory Tower MAK has suspended application of Master card foundation Scholarships for yet to be disclosed reasons.
Master card foundation is a non-profitable organisation that has been paying tuition fee and giving other Educational facility support to a few vulnerable and orphaned University students with financial difficulties in most African countries.
In Uganda,Master card foundation is giving support in partnership with Makerere University since 2010. The University however suspended applications for 2018/19 Academic Year for reasons known to them.This is not news to some of the applicants who parroted to this website. Applicants who have been travelling from up countries to the organisation’s offices inside the university says the officials have not shown much attention to their concerns but only kept on promising them keep on coming which has wasted their time and money.
To a few who visited the organisation’s website say,the forms that were supposed t be downloaded were for 2017/18 AY showing that the organisation might be ceasing its operations. An applicant whose identity is not disclosed says master card officials told them they are making some changes in the system and therefore,should keep checking on their social platforms for further information.
In a website post, the university announced the suspension but no any reasons were given for the suspension instead they called for patience.
“Makerere University informs the general public that the recruitment of students to MasterCard Foundation Scholars’ Program for Academic Year 2018/2019 has been suspended until further notice.
Makerere University asks the general public to please disregard the scholarship announcements that had been made earlier including in the daily monitor of 15th March 2018.
Any inconveniences caused by this announcement are highly regretted.” Website post reads.
To some parrots,they say that the recent sexual harassment cases might have caused to the temporary suspension of the master card foundation 2018/19 scholarship applications. It should be publicly noted that students who are already under the system are continuing with their undergraduate studies and other activities of the organisation are on going at the university.
