Marine Police in Kabale have retrieved a body of a 27-year-old man who allegedly drowned in Lake Bunyonyi while swimming.
The deceased is Twailu Ahimbisibwe, a resident of Myaliro village, Myaliro parish, Manyogaseka sub county Kasanda district.
The fateful incident happened on Tuesday evening when Twailu had gone swimming after a long day’s work at his new job as Gatekeeper at Rock resort, Lake Bunyonyi where he had spent only seven days.
His body was later seen floating on the lake waters and was retrieved by marine police with the help of local divers.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson has attributed the incident to the deceased poor swimming skills.
“The incident happened because the victim may be did not know how to swim,” he commented.
Twailu’s body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital for postmortem and investigation are ongoing.
