Police in Bushenyi district is investigating the case of suspected suicide by hanging of a 45-year-old man.
The incident occured in Kagorogoro village, Kajunju Parish Kyabugimbi sub county Bushenyi District on October 27.
SSP Martial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Nicholas Gumanawe alias Kabogo, 23, a resident of Kakyenka village, Kajunju Parish Kyabugimbi subcounty Bushenyi district.
He reportedly told people he was saying goodbye to his family members who he gave his clothes immediately after he returned to his home from Buhweju where he has been working on October 25.
“He had earlier on told other people that he was going to eat very well as his last meal and then he disappeared to unknown destination but dressed smartly,” police reported.
The relatives then reported a case of disappearance at Kyabugimbi Police Station.
On Friday (October 27), the body of the Deceased was found hanging on a tree in the farm of a one Muhoozi.
The case of suspected suicide by hanging was reported to police by Lawrence Biryabalema, 45,a resident of Kakyenka village Kajunju Parish Kyabugimbi subcounty Bushenyi District.
Police from Bushenyi visited and examined the scene of crime, statements were recorded from some witnesses. They also recovered as an exhibit a rope used by the Deceased to hang.
According to police, the body was found hanging on a rope tied on a tree about 11.8ft from the ground without any physical injuries. The deceased was dressed in maroon clothes, both shirt and trouser, and blue sandals. A black bag was also recovered at the scene.
“The feet were pointing down and hands folded. The tongue was out, penis was erect and ejaculated and had defecated in the trouser,” SSP Tumusiime said.
The body of the deceased was taken to KIU Hospital for postmortem as inquiry into the matter is ongoing.
