The mbarara city football club head coach Hussein Mbalangu has resigned from his duties at the club over poor welfare of players, technical staff and the weak administration at the club.
In his resignation letter addresed to the club chairman, the gaffer noted that despite having tried to raise the matters to the club administration, the welfare of the players and the technical team has remained poor.
“We have accumulated arrears to a tune of two full months getting to the third yet it’s the same salary that we have to use for feeding, payment of our rental apartments and our entire families,” Mbalangu noted.
He adds that the technical team has failed to convince some players to stay at the club ahead of the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
“The administration was reluctant to engage these players who have ended up joining other teams on top of enduring a lot since day one rightly from the challenges that were echoed by our predecessor,” he added.
Because of lack of unity and individualism at the club, Mbalangu walks away with his Assistant head coach Ssenyange Nsanziiro Samuel and goal keeping coach Magasi Jamada as they look for greener pastures.
He leaves the club in the 12th position at 15 points, 4 above relegation and 16 behind table leaders KCCA.
Under his reign, the club played 15 UPL matches, won 4, drew 3 and lost 8.
By press time Mbarara City FC had not given their remarks about the gaffer’s resignation.
Mbalangu becomes the second gaffer from the top league to resign after Douglas Bamweyana who resigned from Wakiso Giants earlier this season.
