The High Court in Masaka has directed authorities at the Uganda Prisons Service to allow MPS Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana to be treated by the doctors of their choice under supervision.
The order that takes effect has been issued by the High Court Judge Lawrence Tweyanze as their case came up for further mentionwhere only Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanya appeared before court via zoom from Kigo government prison.
Hon. Ssegirinya did not appear befor court owing to his admission at Mulago hospital and in poor health conditions.
During the court session, the suspects defense lawyer Shamim Malende intimidated to court that she is underpressure to abandon the case because of the life threatening messages she is currently receiving for representing the lawmakers in court.
She emphasized that the MPs are in worrying health conditions noting that they need a specialized treatment.
The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, also lawyer to the MPs disclosed MP Ssegirinya who is currentky admitted at Mulago is in a grave life condition noting that the conditions are likely to worsen if no urgent action is taken to get them treated.
However, the state prosecuter Richard Birivumbuka said that the state is not aware that Hon. Ssegirinya is not at Luzira Murchison bay hospital where he was taken after his health worsened.
This prompted the judge to order UPS authorities to allow the MPs a specialized treatment but with strict security supervision.
