A muslim cleric in Gangu Division Makindye Ssabagabo municipality Wakiso District has been killed.
The deceased is Sheikh Abbas Muhammad aka Kirevu Bantu, a resident of the same area and a Teacher at Gangu Muslim Primary school.
He was on Thursday morning gunned down by unknown gunmen who broke into his home and started firing bullets killing him instantly as he tried to flee for his dear life.
The assailants further abducted his wife and children to unknown detention.
According to the locals, it is alleged that their fellow could have been killed in connections with the ongoing bombings in the country.
“Like we all expected… Shk Muhammad Abbas Kirevu a teacher at Gangu Muslim Primary school and prominent cleric becomes the first culprit of the bombings.. Murdered again by the state in cold blood.. Kaguta Museveni we can do better.. Being a Muslim has never been a crime.” a local told Parrots UG.
Locals further accused government of targeting Muslims whenever acts of violence and terrorism arise in Uganda.
Security has since combed the scene of the crime and journalists and locals have been denied access to the scene.
By press time, police had not released an official communication as to why Sheikh Abbas Muhammad was killed.
