The National Unity Platform (NUP) on Tuesday confirmed and unveiled Hon Nabilah Nagayi Ssempala as the party’s flagbearer for Kampala Lord Mayor race.
The confirmation follow moments after Kawempe North MP Latiff Ssebagala Ssengendo bowed out of the race leaving the position vacant.
Nabilah won the race against Ssali Cudrah who scored 87 out of the available 200 points while Nabilah garnered 166 out of 200 points.
The vetting started with the two facing a panel of four judges who asked questioned them on the roles of the Kampala lord mayor, NUP core values and their knowledge on the needs of Kampala city.
Nabilah was confirmed by NUP Electoral Boss, Mercy Walukamba.
“With the power vested upon me as the electoral management committee chairperson, I therefore declare Nabilah Naggayi Sempala as the NUP flag bearer for the position of Kampala Lord Mayor,” Mercy Walukamba, NUP electoral commission boss, announced.
However, this decision is according to Walukamba not final since Nabilah will now await to be confirmed by the NUP board.
When confirmed by the board, Nabilah will face incumbent Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago (fdc) and NRM’s Daniel Kazibwe alias singer Ragga Dee in the 2021 elections.
