On Wednesday 28th February, the NRM national chairman and president of Uganda General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni updated his details as a NRM cadre which clearly shows that he is set to stand again in 2026 as the president of this country.

At the reopening and rebranding of the NRM National Chairman office at Kyambogo ( ONC) in September 2022, the manager Hajjati Hadijja Namyalo introduced the slogan of “Omalako Jajja Tova Ku Main Sigala Ku Ballot” with the aim of requesting the party chairman to contest again as president of this country, a direct mobilisation and endorsements through the office of national chairman headed by Hajjati Hadijja Namyalo started and many areas endorsed president Museveni to stand again.

H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, president of the Republic of Uganda since 1986.

In a groundbreaking announcement, it was confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni will be appearing on the ballot for the 2026 presidential election. This was revealed by senior presidential advisor on political affairs, Hajjati Hadijah Namyalo, during her statement at a training session for ONC coordinators, NRM District chairpersons, and registrars.

Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of honesty in the registration process and warned against being influenced by aspiring candidates who may try to manipulate the system. She also urged the participants to fully support President Museveni in his bid for a re-election.

NRM Electoral Commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi also reaffirmed President Museveni as the only NRM flag bearer for the 2026 election. This announcement has put an end to all speculation and doubts about who the NRM’s candidate will be.

With this confirmation, the public can now prepare for a historic campaign and election in 2026, as President Museveni seeks to continue his service to the nation.
