Police in Gulu district have arrested a step brother on allegations of aggravated defilement and murder of his step-sister.
Fred Enanga, police spokesperson identified the suspect as Rubangakene Richard, 20, a resident of Coopil village, Angaya parish, Unyama sub county in Gulu district.
He allegedly defiled his 11-year-old step-sister, Agenorwat Angel a pupil at Coopil Primary School on September 14, 2023 at 2pm.
According to police, the suspect forcefully defiled the victim inside their main house where he had asked her to go and bring plates.
“He immediately followed her in the house, grabbed and violently defiled the victim. After the forceful sexual act, he picked a hammer and hit her head, killing her instantly. The killer weapon was recovered,” said Enanga
Police cautioned to parents and guardians against leaving under-aged children under the care of their siblings.
“Children below the age of 12, are not mature enough to defend themselves. It is important to always keep an eye on them.” SCP Enanga Fred
