Kampala | Parrots UG. Omoro county MP Jacob Lokoli Oulanya has been voted speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda in a hotly contested election held at Kololo ceremonial grounds.
Oulanya NRM, who has been serving as the deputy speaker of parliament for the last one decade garnered 310 votes against his boss Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga who obtained 197 votes and FDC’s Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda who only got 15 votes.
The victory comes few moments after the NRM party CEC endorsed him for the speakership position denying Kadaga a ticket.
