Police in Kampala have started closing in on the man who was captured in a video assaulting a female police officer during Wednesday’s riots in Kampala and metropolitan areas.
According to a video and a photo making circulations on social media, a man dressed in a red attire with his right hand up holding a hammer is seen battering a female police officer in down town Kampala.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson has said police have arrested one person identified as Benson Kasoozi, who is alleged to be a close associate to the man behind the act.
He said Kasozi is helping to feed police with necessary information that will lead to the eventual arrest of the key suspect.
The Anti-Bobi Wine arrest country wide protests have so far left 26 persons dead and dozens of protestors including civilians and security personnel retreating wounds.
Its well remembered that Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, aka Bobi Wine, one of the presidential candidates representing the National Unity Platform in the 2021 presidential race was brutally arrested on Wednesday this week in Luuka district going to address a political rally in Luuka, Kalungu and Masaka city the following day.
He was arrested and whisked to Nalufenya a government minimum prison famously known for the Torture of detainees, this erupted protests in Kampala and nationwide demanding his release.
By publication time,Bobi Wine was still held captive at Nalufenya police station in Jinja city while his lawyers await at Iganga magistrate court where he was expected to be produced to court.
