The Permanent Secretary to the Energy ministry PS. Irene Bateebe has said that Uganda’s energy sector has witnessed significant growth despite the persisting challenges.
PS Bateebe made the revelations in a Tuesday 5th July, 2023 statement issued to the media on the forthcoming Power and Elec International Expo in Kampala.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, in collaboration with Exhibitions & Trade Services India PVT Ltd (ETSIPL), will host the Power and Elec International Expo 2023 in Kampala, Uganda. The Expo is scheduled to take place between July 13-15, 2023, at the UMA Show Grounds Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo.
According to the PS, the expo will provide a platform for domestic and international companies to foster the growth of the energy sector in Uganda.
“The Elec expo will feature over 100 exhibitors from countries such as Uganda, India, UAE, and the UK. It aims to facilitate engagements between key decision-makers from government ministries, departments, agencies, and sector players,” she explained.
About the Expo
ETSIPL, a renowned exhibition organizer and promoter from India, aims to leverage the expo to promote the power industry and explore untapped opportunities in Uganda. The event will bring together local and international players across the power sector to showcase the latest innovations and technologies while facilitating meaningful business-to-business interactions. Exhibitors will include power product manufacturers, energy suppliers, importers, exporters, and experts in renewable energy, solar products, electricals, and electronics.
The expo is organized under the theme “Connect with the Power, Energy, Electrical, Renewable, and Solar Industry of Uganda,” and will emphasize on promoting innovative technologies, raising awareness, and building sustainable collaborations within the energy sector.
The expo has garnered support from local partners, including the Uganda National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Alliance (UNREEEA), National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Uganda Solar Energy Association (USEA), and the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA).
