The construction of the fecal sludge facility in the Western Division of Rukungiri Municipality is nearing completion. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipal Member of Parliament, inspected the progress of the ongoing project this morning.
The construction, undertaken by VIDAS Engineering Services Company, is estimated at a cost of 6.3 billion shillings and funded by the World Bank. According to Robert Kakiza, the site engineer, the project is 90% complete and is expected to be handed over soon for use.
The new facility is designed to improve the hygiene and sanitation of the fast-growing population within Rukungiri Municipality. The completion of this project will mark a significant milestone in enhancing public health and environmental management in the region.
Dr. Rutahigwa expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the importance of the facility in addressing sanitation challenges in the municipality. The facility is expected to provide a sustainable solution for fecal waste management, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
