A seven storeyed building underconstruction has collapsed in Kasarani, Nairobi.
Un estimated number of people majorly construction workers are said to still be trapped in the rubbles and attempts to retrieve them are ongoing.
Two women who were helping workers at the site told reports that they noticed wall cracks on the ground floor walls earlier this morning.
Another worker who preferred anonymity said City Hall officers arrived at the site on Tuesday morning for inspection and stopped the exercise advising workers to leave the construction site immediately.
However, the building’s supervisor reportedly asked the workers to ignore the warning and proceed with construction.
By the time of compiling this report, some of the persons who were rescued from the rubbles had been rushed to St. Francis Hospital Kasarani.
Ronald Karauri, the Kasarani county MP arrived at the scene and condemned the increasing cases of collapsing buildings in Kenya.
