Three suspected have been arrested following an intelligence-led operation into alleged kidnapping of a male adult in Mitooma district.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa has identified the suspects as Tumwebaze Onan, Kakunguru Jacob and Naserenga Haustine.
The victim, has been identified as Twesigye Israel, 45, a resident of Sherere Village in Rwaburunga Sub-county, Mitooma District.
It is alleged that the suspects, using a motor vehicle registration number UAV 595G, and disguising as security officers clad in police-branded T-shirts reportedly abducted the victim, Twesigye on June 5.
The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of sh30m from the victim’s relatives.
Upon receiving the report, police launched investigations and deployed tracking teams that followed leads to trace the suspects.
“On June 7, 2026, the suspects were successfully tracked and arrested in Sembabule District, while the victim was rescued alive and safely recovered,” Tayebwa told reports.
Police also recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime.

SP Tayebwa said the vehicle is being held as an exhibit at Mitooma Police Station as investigations continue.
He said efforts to apprehend other suspects who are still on the run are ongoing.
“Police remain committed to ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice upon the compilation of sufficient evidence,” he added.
Tayebwa urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and criminal incidents to enable timely police intervention.
