A team of assessors from Uganda Business And Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has today Thursday 12 October, 2923 visited St Joseph’s Vocational Training Center Kamuli in Eastern Uganda for the assessment and marking of the students project works as part of their UBTEB exams.
St Joseph’s Vocational Training Center Kamuli started in 1989 for the purposes of responding to the needs of the community through youth education empowerment. The institution is Catholic founded under the stewardship of the Salesians Of Don Bosco with the aim of empowering young people in the imitation of Don Bosco their founder.
The school offers a variety of hands on courses ranging from motor vehicle and mechanics,driving,carpentry and joinery,welding and metal fabrication, catering and hotel management,fashion and design,tailoring and garmet cutting,building and construction and hair dressing.
Students offering different courses were today availing their exam projects to their instructors for supervision in conjunction with UBTEB Examiners ahead of the students’ final exams sitting.
The project works according to the examining body add up 40% of the final exams to the students’ academic performance.
In Uganda, technical education is becoming a pivotal pillar in national and African settings in regards to job creation.
However, it is still a myth and a deception for some individuals that consider TVET for the less advantaged and academic failures which affects it’s growth.
Today, many university graduates have resumed to have these hands on skills after failing to find white color jobs of their professions.
The search for best drivers,engineers, plumbers, cosmetologists, carpenters,welders and mechanics is a true reality that technical education is strategically set to promote solutions to the current world problems.
