In a major development, the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced the promotion of 898 officers and confirmation of 20 senior and junior officer ranks, effective immediately.
According to a statement released by the Director Defense Public Information, Brig. Gen. Feliz Kulaigye, the promotions cut across various ranks, from Second Lieutenant to Brigadier General.
The list includes five promotions from Colonel to Brigadier General, three from Acting Colonel to Colonel, and 15 from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel.
A total of 650 Second Lieutenants were promoted to Lieutenants, while 155 Lieutenants were elevated to Captains.
The UPDF fraternity has congratulated the promoted officers, hailing their hard work and dedication to the force.
This massive promotion exercise is seen as a boost to morale within the military and a recognition of the officers’ tireless efforts in serving the country.
