A total of 25 cases of examination malpractice were registered in both PLE and UCE exams, UNEB reported.

Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the UNEB Public Relations Officer says ten (10) of these cases were recorded in UCE while 15 in PLE cases and are being investigated.

“Some of these suspects are out on police bond as investigations continue while others have appeared in court and the culprits remanded to prison,” Kalule said.

Among the suspects are Kadule Celestine, the director of Kisugu High School in Makindye who was remanded to prison by the Makindye magistrate court having found him guilty of charges of confinement of candidates and disruption of the examination contrary to section 30 of the UNEB Act, 2021.

Nevertheless, the board reported that there were no major cases of examination malpractice in the recently concluded UCE exams such as leakage of examination materials, exposing candidates to prior knowledge of the examination papers. They reported that exams were successfully completed without major challenges.

Kalule retaliated warnings against examination malpractice to S6 candidates who are currently sitting for their UACE exams across the country. She said, culprits shall be charged in accordance with the laws in UNEB Act, 2021.

In another development, a S4 candidate at Karushandara Seed Secondary School in Kasese gave birth to a bouncing baby boy after she got labour pains in a Kiswahili paper on Friday. Reports indicate that the teen mother had just written her name and other particulars on the answer booklet when she felt labour pains. She was then rushed to a nearby clinic where she gave birth but was unable to write her paper.

Musamba noted that the student will be graded because she had written down her name on the paper and recorded her presence.
