KAMPALA:
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, the president for the NUP has rebuked government for defying the court order for releasing novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija who is facing charges on offensive communication.
Kyagulanyi posted on his social media platform alleging that the writer has been subjected to torture and denied social justice.

“The regime has completely ignored ignored a court order issued yesterday for the immediate release of author and political activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija. He is still being held incommunicado, having been subjected to grave torture. There must be and there will be accountability of these crimes against humanity,” he said.
It should be understood that Kakwenza was produced to the Makindye court on Tuesday and the grade one court magistrate Irene Nambatya issued an order to police to unconditionally release Kakwenza.
The order followed application by the writer’s lawyers Eron Kiiza, Nalukoola Luyimbazi and Samuel Wanda demanding his unconditional release.
Police say Kakwenza was arrested for abusing the president and his son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who he recently called OBESE in a twitter post.
