Its a sigh of relief to the people of Lango sub-region in Northern Uganda after government assured them of reconstruction of the long awaited Lira-Kamdini Road.
The revelations have been made by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja who said government is to embark on the reconstruction of the road set to begin on April 15, 2022.
Nabbanja was speaking at a function to consecrate the Bishop of the Northern Uganda Elim Pentecostal Evangilical Mission, Rev. Julius Peter Eyit that took place at Mayor’s Gardens in Lira City on Friday.
According to Nabanjja, the World Bank has already done with the reconstruction approvals including the environmental impact assessment and the rock quarry site to be used in the reconstruction of the road.
She said that the 65 Km Lira-Kamdini road is Uganda’s umbilical cord, the reason government wants to work on it a very strong manner.
Additionally, Nabbanja disclosed that government has been holding several meetings with the World Bank and is only awaiting to launch the reconstruction and civil works will commence.
Speaking at the installation ceremony, the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng who is also the Lira City Woman MP reassured people of Lango that there will be no any alterations in the reconstruction of this road.
“This road reconstruction works will commence on April 15, 2022 because it has already been agreed up on and there will be no alterations to it”, she said
“The people of Lango have cried and have been praying for long about this and now God has answered our prayers.” Minister Aceng added.

Aceng told the premier that Lira and Lango sub region are faced with sunshine but was quick to remind her that Lira is both an industrial and business city boasting about the city’s influence on country’s revenue collection (ranked as number 6 best in terms of revenue collection in Uganda) and assured her of better performance in the Parish Development Model.
Known for staging demonstration against the sorry state of roads in Lango region, Hon. Judith Alyek, the Chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group asked the prime minister to ensure other roads like Dokolo- Amolatar, Ayer- Bobi and Lira –Alebtong to Abim are upgraded.

The installation of Bishop Julius Peter Eyit was presided over by the General Overseer of Elim Petecostal Evangilical Mission of Uganda Fredrick Makaa.
Bishop Rev Eyit who replaces Bishop Tom Ibrahim Okello.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja further handed over Sh10m and a Brand New Car donated to him by the president to help him in his pastoral ministry.
