“Very pleased today to lay the foundation stone for the establishment of the NUP headquarters in Bwaise, Kavule. Those who dismissed us as a mere wave will soon realise that we are a serious group, committed to leading the liberation struggle to its accomplishment,” sarcastic Kyagulanyi said

The spokesperson of National Unity Platform, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi has confirmed to journalists that they procured the land from the money which the party has been collecting from each member of parliament monthly and other party fundraising channels

“The little money that we have been collecting from each NUP member of parliament on a monthly basis is the one that we have used to purchase this piece of land to construct our new party headquarters to help us conduct our party activities well,” said Ssenyonyi

Furthermore, Ssenyonyi admitted that the party headquarters at Kamokya had become too small for the party leaders to do their duties as well as allowing space for the party supporters to get involved in the party activities.

“We have been always using Maggere residence compound disturbing our party president and the family whenever we needed a large space to conduct our party activities but now there is no need, this piece of land is big enough to support all our party activities,” he added.

The ground breaking ceremony of the new NUP offices comes at the time when there have been a lot of complaints from the journalists,  party supporters being locked outside the gates of their party headquarters due to limited space inside.
