Traffic police in Gulu is investigating a road accident that claimed lives and injured dozens in the area
The tragic accident Monday at around 9.30PM behind Cynibel Supermarket, along Opwonya-Walter Road in Gulu City.
According to an eye witness, the truck driver was driving at a bottleneck speed when he veered off the road after he failed to navigate a sharp corner and ended up ramming into a nearby buildin.
“It’s a tragic incident, four people died on the spot, two died while on Ambulance and two died in the hospital. It is a sad moment for Gulu people and Uganda at large. The travellers should always demand that the driver be sober while driving, a drunken driver should not drive a vehicle,” former Leader of Opposition Betty Aol Ocean said
Faridah Nampiime, the spokesperson of the Traffic and Road Safety Directorate said that the injured persons have been to Gulu refferl hospital while the deceased were taken to mulago postmortem.
By Press time, police had not identified whether among the deceased are the occupants of the knocked house.
