The Vice Chancellor Prof. Bossa Lutaro tasked Rev. Leonard Kyomya to foster the construction of the university main campus at their new site along Sentema road about 20km off Kampala city
Rev. Leonard Lubega Kyomya has been appointed chairperson of the Team University Council.
Kyomya replaces Hon. Lady Justice Christine Kitumba, the founding chairperson who retired last month after serving in this capacity for 15 years.
Reports indicate that His Eminence Leonard Lubega Kyomya duly commenced his duties on Thursday 24th November, 2022.
The 15 men’s committee has been tasked to speed up the construction exercise of the university main campus at Ssentema one way of ensuring its expansion and infrastructure development.
Kyomya will be deputised by Dr. Christine Kirungi Tasobya as the vice chairperson. Other members of the committee are Arthur Mpairwe, Nono Walter, Daphine Abasa, Dr. Florence Nampiija, Abasi Rutaro, Dr. Gilbert Gumoshabe, Jolly Uzamukunda, Moses Mukibi, prof. Lutaro Bosa, Deo Kirumira and the University secretary Evelyn Hope Kyokunda.
Speaking shortly after the hand over ceremony, the university vice chancellor, Prof. Lutaro Bossa stressed that the university is registering a notable stride in the growing number of graduates.
“In February and October this year, we graduated over 3,600 students and we hope the number will keep increasing and that we need a big space for the function,” he said.
He expressed a need to promote the use of IT systems to support flexible E_ learning, virtual learning that will also increase in numbers.
“With this new technology, some candidates will acquire skills and competencies while seated in their offices and sitting rooms through E and Virtual learning systems,” he said.
The vice chancellor further disclosed that plans to establish a fully flegged science faculty, that is Engineering and health sciences is in high gears noting that this will be achieved as soon as they get a permanent home at Sentema.
On his part, Dr. Leonard Lubega pledged to use his prior expertise on the committee to boost activities of the university.
“What you’re raising here is not new, we had it in our plans, it’s a matter of implementing them and we shall do,” he said.
Dr. Kyomya praised the management and staff of Team University for training students on becoming job creators than sitting and waiting on limted government colar jobs.
Team University was licensed to offer undergraduate degrees, Post Graduate programmes in 2015 and has so far seen hundred of thousands graduates going tàhrough her gates.
“I 4 know any of our former students who are just there doing nothing because the way we equip them, they must get what to do after their course of study,” he said.
