Seasoned politician and former member of parliament for Makindye West, Hon. Hussein Kyanjo has passed away.
According to reports, Kyanjo died at Kibuli Muslim hospital on Saturday morning.
Although the cause of his death is still not known, the deceased has been ailing for some time for almost over the past eight years. Last year, reports indicated that he was battling with alleged cancer disease.
In an interview with the Daily Monitor newspaper in May 2014, Kyanjo likened his illnesses to poisoning after doctors at an Iranian owned hospital in Dubai told him he was battling with dystonia, a strange disease that eats up certain organs and muscles of the body.
According to him, the doctors gave three conditions that cause the disease including inheritance from the family, effects of a serious accident and poisoning. He however refuted the first two conditions stating that none of his family members had died of such a strange disease or it’s symptoms, was never involved in an accident linking it to poisoning.
For the last eight years, he has been having toxin injections on the lower part of his jaws to keep the muscles in shape.
Kyanjo was the member of parliament for Makindye West in the 8th Parliament and he is celebrated for his incorruptible, good governance and activist for fundamental change in the country.
He was also the Secretary General of the Justice Forum (JEEMA), a pressure group movement turned political party he founded together with among others Hon. Mouhamad Kibirige Mayanja in 1995.
May His Soul Rest in Peace
