OBITUARY
Former Perez Tenywa Bukumunhe, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, has died.
Bukumunhe died while living near his ancestral home in Busesa, Bugweri District. The cause of his death had not been disclosed by press time.
He served as Deputy Governor of the central bank from 1986 to 1990 before joining the Constituent Assembly from 1993 to 1996, which drafted Uganda’s 1995 Constitution.
Following his tenure at the Constituent Assembly, Bukumunhe was appointed chairperson of the Uganda Coffee Development Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture, a position he held until his retirement.
Family members had not yet released details of the funeral arrangements by press time.
Bukumunhe is remembered for his contribution to Uganda’s financial sector, especially in the post war economic recovery, constitutional development and the country’s coffee industry. May his soul rest in peace.
