Former presidential candidate and president of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said that Ugandans must resist political cowardice and stand up for change in their quest to reclaim victory in the 2026 elections.
Kyagulanyi was addressing party supporters at Global High School in Mbarara City as the party begun their first phase of the nationwide tour to mobilize support starting from the grassroot levels. He begun by apologizing to his eagerly awaiting supporters where he revealed that the delay in starting of their planned activities was caused by the Mbarara City RCC who had not yet allowed them to convene at the school, which they had earlier booked.
He urged the public to be brave and stand up for their rights, especially after the 2021 general elections that were marred by massive violence and vote-rigging.
Before addressing the gathering, Kyagulanyi who was in the company f the Vice President for Western region and other party leaders were first hosted on the Airwaves of WEBS FM Endigyito Radio in the heart of Mbarara City. Unfortunately, the talkshow ended prematurely after the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) temporarily switched off the radio shortly after the show had started.
With all failed attempts to get the radio back to Air, the leaders proceeded to Marknsighn street Mbarara where they officially opened NUP Offices.
NUP managed to go ahead with their other planned activities without major interruptions, apart from a short interruptions at Endigyito radio.
Furthermore, without any hitches Kyagulanyi and his mobilization team held a successful rally at Global High School, where he addressed a mammoth of his supporters.
Speaking at the same function, the NUP national mobilizer, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu alias Chairman Nyanzi told the people of Mbarara not to be hoodwinked by the NRM propaganda of Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK Project) who the ruling party NRM is reportedly moulding to bring in as their standby generator in the 2026 elections.
As the 2026 elections loom, it remains to be seen whether the people of Mbarara will heed Kyagulanyi’s message and become more proactive in the democratic process.
NUP Nationwide tour continues to Fort Portal tomorrow (August 29) where they will open up offices before heading to Kasese Municipality where another office will be officially opened at Bambucha Gardens the following day.
