In preparation for the upcoming Global Summit, authorities have announced the expected traffic diversions and measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the event. These diversions will be implemented only if necessary, with the aim of minimizing disruptions and ensuring the safety of all motorists.

At Mpala, traffic will be diverted to Entebbe Highway to alleviate congestion and facilitate the movement of vehicles. Similarly, at Kisubi, motorists will be directed to Nakawuka Road to access Kampala city more easily.

The Kajjansi flyover will serve as an alternative route for traffic, diverting vehicles to Lubowa – Zana. This measure aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide a more efficient flow of vehicles.

Several diversions will be implemented at key traffic lights, including Serena-Kigo, Mutungo-Kitiko, and Busabala, if any vehicle is sighted along Munyonyo Spur. Alongside this, a security checkpoint will be set up at Munyonyo roundabout, diverting motorists to Salaama Road and Buziga.

Motorists approaching Munyonyo from Gaba road will be redirected at UCB Road to access Buziga – Lukuli, offering an alternate route to minimize congestion. Additional diversions will be in place along the Northern bypass at Busega flyover and at a slip Road, limiting access to the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. Similar diversions will be in effect at Sentema, Nansana, Bwaise, Kalerwe, Kyebando, and Kisaasi interchange, flyover, and slip roads.

At Bwaise flyover, traffic will be diverted to Sir Apollo Kagwa road for easier access to the city center. Traffic police will play a crucial role in regulating traffic flow at various road junctions and access roads throughout the summit. Motorists are urged to comply with their directives to ensure a smooth and organized flow of vehicles.

To ensure the security of delegates, motorcycles will not be permitted to access the summit route from Entebbe Airport to Speke Resort Munyonyo. Additionally, certain boda boda stages along the summit routes and hotels where the visiting heads of states will be residing will be relocated and absorbed into other stages during the summit period.

In light of these diversions and traffic measures, the Traffic Police advises all travelers with flights at Entebbe International Airport to plan their journeys in advance to avoid any inconveniences or delays. Finally, the general public is urged to demonstrate patience, extend courtesy to the summit delegates, and make way for the smooth operation of the event.
