The family of late Dokolo Woman member of parliament, Hon. Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Atim is in talks with top leadership of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to engage in talks ahead of Dokolo by-election.
The high level meeting follow recent reports where family fronted Dr. Alwoc Ogwal Rosemary to contest for Dokolo Woman MP seat, which was previously occupied by her mother, Cecilia Ogwal.

Dokolo district woman member of parliament seat fell vacant on January 18th following the demise of Cecilia Ogwal who died in India after short illness.
Although the Electoral Commission has not yet announced dates for this by-election, the FDC contends that the late Cecilia Ogwal was their member and therefore they will front a candidate to retain their seat.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the party spokesperson, John Kikonyogo revealed that they were considering to endorse the deceased daughter as their flag bearer in the by-election.
“As I talk now, only the family of Hon. Cecilia Ogwal has come up to approach us about it. Nobody else has come approached us in case someone comes, we will sit them down for a dialogue and if they disagree, we go for internal primaries,” Kikonyogo said.
On speculations that Dr. Ogwal is being backed up by the ruling NRM, Kikonyogo said this will be an important step forward to their expected victory in the by-election.

Speaking to the media shortly after the meeting, Dr. Alwoc said further details of the meeting will be informed by the party. “I am currently in discussions with FDC. That’s all I can say now and you will be informed.”
The FDC party chief Electoral Commissioner, Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda who was also in the meeting said it’s prudent for the daughter to replace her late mother to uphold her legacy in Dokolo and Uganda.
