Equity Bank on Monday launched the Uganda Top 100 SME survey campaign 2024. The campaign, a partnership of Equity Bank together with KPMG and Daily Monitor is themed “Empowering SMEs for a Monetized Uganda: Catalyzing Growth through Innovation, Sustainability, and Market Access,” aims to identify and recognize Uganda’s fastest-growing and medium-sized companies.
Winners from the survey will be announced during a Gala dinner in December 2024, according to bank officials.
The survey targets SMEs with a turnover of 360 million to 25 billion UGX and will run for three months, culminating in a gala dinner in December.
Anthony Kituuka, Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda Limited, encouraged SMEs to participate, stating that it will give them visibility and offer a 2% discount on Equity Bank products after being listed in the Top 100 SMEs.
‘’Equity Bank is committed to supporting the Top 100 SME Survey Campaign for the next 3 years. I encourage all participants to participate as it will give you visibility,” said Kituuka.
Kituuka emphasized that Equity’s goal is to empower various stakeholders, including individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and communities, through a wide range of financial services. He noted that they aim to create a sustainable relationship where empowered communities and businesses will naturally seek Equity’s services, rather than just focusing on profit.
The campaign highlights the crucial role SMEs play in Uganda’s economy, accounting for a substantial portion of the GDP and providing employment opportunities to many and Equity Bank is dedicated to foster their growth and development through integrated financial services.
