KAMPALA
About 116 suspected criminals were On 26th.November 2024, arrested, charged and detained following intelligence-led operations in various areas of Kampala and Mukono.
The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said the operation was meant to combat crime, maintain public safety and order ahead of the Christmas festival. The operations which were carried out in kitintate,Port bell,Luzira,Kifuufu and Gulf areas led to the arrest of 19 suspects ,30 suspects were arrested in Kiira division for possession of opium.
“47 Suspects in Mukono for possession of Marijuana and other crimes while at central police station Kampala ,20 suspects were arrested for engaging in various criminal activities,” Onyango added.
According to Onyango, the targeted areas are known for criminal activities such as Marijuana trade and smoking, Burglaries and theft.
Police recovered some exhibits and the suspects are in different detention places pending prosecution
