Its an English adage that a bad day is always seen at dawn, the clouds are black and people in Bugwere royal kingdom are mourning the untimely death of the institution’s cultural leader, Chrysestom Wayari.

Ikumbania wa Bugweri, Chrysestom Wayari has passed on today February 7, 2021 after a long week of battling illness at Pallisa hospital. Dr. Christopher at Pallisa hospital confirmed to this development.

Sources told Parrots UG that the Ikumbania succumbed to COVID-19 earlier today.

Ikumbania was born in 1957 at Kenkuba sub county in Kibuuku district. He has died at the age of 64yrs.

During his time as the Ikumbania of Bugweri, the Ikumbania was involved in Pentecostal activities a character that made him reunite the Bagwere | Gwere (People of Bugweri) with the church.

The kingdom is made up of: Pallisa; Kibuku; Budaka and Butebo with various sub tribes from Bigisu, Teso and Bunyole.

He becomes the third traditional leader to succumb to corona virus in Uganda after Umukuka Bob Mukhori of Bugisu who died on 14th January, 2021 and the king of Sebei who died few days later on January 19.

Ikumbnia Wayari was  a born again Bishop of the Revival and Salvation Ministries in the East and Central Africa before being coronated head of the Bugwere royal kingdom.

By publication time, Ikumbania’s body was still at Entebbe General Hospital awaiting for transportation to his home in Pallisa.

About Bugwere Kingdom

Bugwere Royal Kingdom is a traditional and cultural institution of the Bagwere through which the Bagwere come together and derive their identity, cultural heritage, norms, values, hence promote “inclusive and shared prosperity.

According to its Constitution, which was adopted in May 2013 and amended in December 2015, Obwa Ikumbania bwa Bugwere translated as Bugwere Royal Kingdom is constitutional monarchy where the King (Ikumbania) is the crown.

The Monarchy also has democratically elected Kingdom parliament (Isimoola) whose term of office is five years. The Kingdom was established in accordance with the Institution of Traditional or Cultura.
