Popular crimines judge Justice Jane Frances Abodo has officially assumed office as Director of Public Prosecutions taking over from Justice Mike Chibita.
Last month, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni appointed Justice Abodo as a new DPP replacing Justice Mike Chibita who was elevated to head the Supreme court.
Up on assuming office, she promised to focus on disposing off high level crimes which affects good governance, peace, public safety and security especially such cases characterized by rampant murders, aggravated defilement, rape, corruption by public officials and abuse of office. She says are rampant in the country currently.

She was among other persons whose names were forwarded to parliamentary for vetting. These included Dr Micheal Ating’ ego (appointed as Deputy Governor BoU), Mr Musinguzi Rujoki (CG URA) and Johnson Byabashaija (Commissioner Uganda Prisons Services). The Parliamentary vetting committee found Justice Abodo suitable to hold the office which she assumed today.
Before her current assignment, 38yr-old Justice worked as the High Court Judge under its Criminal Division from February 2018 to April2020. She had also ever worked with the DPP office something that backs up her expertise.
Born in Karamoja subregion, Abodo is an active lawyer, judge since 2007, reknown for handling among other criminal cases, the case of the death of famous musician Moses Ssekibogo aka Mozzy Radio.
She holds a Masters Degree in Law from Trinity Dublin University, Bachelor of Law of Makerere University and LDC.
