Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal is hoping to keep the same enthusiasm for politics her mom had.
Alwoc is running on the FDC ticket in the Dokolo district Woman MP by-election in a seven-horses-race.
She is the daughter of former legislator late Hon. Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Atim who passed on January 18, in India due to cancer related disease, and she grew up watching her mom struggle and triumph in the national political arena.
Her late mother’s party, FDC handpicked her to run for this slot to replace her mother and offer she accepted after a series of engagements between the party and the Ogwal family.
Campaigning in Alyecjuk village, Agwata subcounty today, Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal said she is all ready to walk her late mother’s talk to social economic and political development in Dokolo and walk in her footsteps.
“My late mother’s work had both national and international dimensions. So, I believe I am the most qualified to handle that brief as compared to other candidates,” she said.
She pledged to continue fostering for infrastructure development in Dokolo, unity among the people of different political, religious affiliations and races as was her late mother. She said her efforts to continue supporting her late mother’s dependants in schools, donating to best performing students in national examinations and taking up other tasks potentially reflects her abilities to replace her late mother in the by-election.
The political novice is optimistic about winning overwhelmingly in Thursday’s (March 21) by-election.
“The hopes of winning is very high,” said Dr. Alwoc citing the overwhelming support she received from the 14 sub-counties tat make up Dokolo, on her nomination day.
The race for Dokolo district Woman MP is between seven candidates but Dr. Alwoc Ogwal (FDC) and UPC’s Sarah Aguti Nyangkori are so far the talk of the game.
