Article 12 “Cessation” of the fdc constitution asserts when one joins another party or in an election stands as an independent candidate, ceases to be a member.
In a December 7, letter purportedly signed by Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretariat sent strong warnings to independent candidates to stop using fdc signs threatening to write to the Electoral Commission seeking for their disqualification should they fail to adhere.
Fdc members in RUKUNGIRI fond of mobilizing voters for the independent candidates are according to Nandala’s letter on the risk of facing dismissal from the party.
The fdc flagbearers in RUKUNGIRI are; Hon. Betty Muzanira – district WMP, Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza – Rujumbura county, Dr. Wallen NuwagabaTumwine – RUKUNGIRI Municipality, Charles Makuru – Municipal mayor, and Na both Namanya – Rubabo.
Nandala insists that the fdc members and structure in the district will only solicit support for the party flagbearers.
Measures to reach to Ingrid Turinawe remained futile as her known contacts couldn’t be reached.
