MBARARA:
High court in Mbarara has today dismissed with costs the electoral petition filed by FDC’S Odo Tayebwa against Bushenyi-ishaka municipality MP Derrick Kabura.
In a petition lawyers of Kanduho and co.advocates.
, Odo Tayebwa accused Kabura of voter bribery, intimidation, and destruction of his election campaign posters among others. He alleged that Kabura bought street lights which were installed in Ishaka-Bushenyi municipality inducing voters to vote for him in return.
However, Justice Moses Kawumi in a ruling read by deputy registrar Samuel Twakire dismissed the petition noting that Odo Tayebwa failed to satisfy court with clear evidence on alleged voter bribery.
Court found out that Derrick Kabura didn’t not bring street lights during election time as alleged by the petitioner.
Odo Tayebwa, however, told journalists after court proceedings that he was not satisfied with entire decision of the judge urging that he will seek court redress in the court of appeal.
In a six men’s race, Kabura (NRM) became the first runner up with 8,199 votes followed by FDC’s Tayebwa who garnered 5,898 votes.
