Martial said the driver of the Toyota Fielder was trying to dodge potholes filled with stagnant water when he collided with an incoming truck.

The cause of the accident has been attributed to poor state of the roads in the area.

Early in the morning, social media was awashed with unverified news that Bwengye died in an accident. However, this was later established as mistaken identity because one of the victims; Rukwengye (RiP) shares tbe same village with the lawyer.

“This is to give you sad news about the demise of my neighbor and friend in Mubanda Mitooma , Mzee RUKWENGYE , who has died early this morning in a car accident at Itendero,Shema District. Two members of his family died with him.Very sad indeed ! For unknown reasons some social media are circulating false news that it is me Francis Bwengye who has died in the accident. Abokunyendeza obuhangazi muhumure, ndiho ngumire nk’eibaare, ” Bwengye posted.
