The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira Kambale has asked Christians to work hard and fight poverty among themselves.
The cleric delivered the message today morning in his Christmas homily during the first mass at the Kasese Catholic Cathedral in Kasese town.
“God doesn’t want us to go to heaven with this poverty. Why should God take lazy people to heaven. To do what?” Bishop Kibira said.
He added that it hurts him when he See’s young people who do not want to work anymore.
On the same note, Bishop Kibira tipped the people of the Rwenzori region to thank God so much because there is no country in the whole of Africa that God created like the Rwenzori region.
He said that in Ethiopia and Somalia all the cows are dying because they have no water yet from Mpondwe to Bundibugyo you will find a river every two kilometers in addition to very fertile soil.
“Let us spread the Gospel of working hard, we shouldn’t be in poverty when God has given us such a good life,” he asked.
He went on and tasked other religious leaders, political leaders and traditional leaders in the region to spread the message of poverty eradication.
“The Omukama of Tooro and The Omusinga Of Rwenzururu God is going to judge us if we don’t teach our people, advise our people to have a change of mindset so that we can work hard and come out of this poverty,” Bishop Kibira said.
He added that, “Let us help one another to come out of poverty so that God may be glorified in our lives. People should be spiritually rich but also materially rich”.
The Kasese Diocese Prelate also warned Christians to stop the sin of greed for worldly things. He said that there is no much sin in the world today like corruption and people are doing all kind of things to attain wealth.
As the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, Bishop Kibira asked people to eat together and eat well because Christmas is a family day.
During mass, Bishop Kibira was assisted by Rev. Fr. Godwin Mumbere the Curate Kasese Cathedral parish.
