Following the continued incidents of policemen shooting civilians, the Internal Affairs Minister Maj.Gen. Severino Kahinda Otafiire, has revealed that government is working on modalities of taking police officers for refresher training, such that they can be trained in how to operate more professionally and ethically.

“We need to subject these to ideological training. What brought peace to this country was the ideological training we received when we were still in the bush,” Gen. Otafiire said.

He added that;”The training helped each soldier to know exactly what to do and how to behave but sadly that is no more because most of the soldiers we have today are like robots.”

The Minister said that he is going to write a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) instructing him to implement the directive to ensure that all policemen and women are taken for refresher training.
