Dissatisfied voters in Mitooma district yesterday voted out incumbent Jovah Kamateeka from the NRM flagbearer race making her as toothless as an old dog.
Kamateeka who has been MITOOMA district WMP since 2011 lost to Juliet Agasha Bashiisha her long time political opponent.
According to the electoral results released on Saturday by the district electoral registrar Mr Nuwagira Esau, Juliet Bashisha won overwhelmingly with 25,203votes, against Jovah Kamateeka genres 23,227 votes, Jaquiline Arinaitwe aka Mugorea got 22,105 votes, Joan Muhaise obtained only 3156 votes and Jacqueline Nuwamanya got 41votes.
The registrar explained the delays in releasing results for WMP contestants on the delayed submission of results from Mutara and Mayanga sub counties.
Mitooma voters most of whom the youth said Kamateeka was trashed because of her decisions on the floor of Parliament to support the scrap off of the presidential age limit in 2017 in what came to be known as “Togikwatako” Amendment of Article 102b, imposing of OTT and Mobile Money Taxes in 2018.
These also accuses the legislator of poor services delivery on the ground for the last two terms spent in parliament.
An anonymous source from Kamateeka camp revealed to Parrotsug that by yesterday evening their candidate had already conceded defeat dismissing claims that she was bribing the registrar to announce her as a winner.
Jovah Kamateeka however has another chance of contesting for the same seat in the 2021General Elections on an independent ticket.
