Kampala Capital City Authority – KCCA has announced that they have started clearing salary workers for their casual workers.
The authority said in a statement that payment of these arrears is being done on the known city cleaners’ accounts.
“Accordingly, KCCA has commenced payment of these arrears into all city cleaners’ accounts,” read excerpts of the statement on the authority social media platforms.
Recently, the minister for Kampala Capital City Authority and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda said the ministry of finance released Shs13.69 billions to clear to pay KCCA workers who were striking against delayed payments for their arrears for over five months and their National Social Security Fund (NSSF) remittances.
Insiders from KCCA revealed to this publication that payments have already started reflecting on the cleaners’ accounts although some of the cleaners claim that they have not received their payments.
Jimmy Sseremba also known as Mussayi gwa Gwanga, one of the leaders of these cleaners said nothing has been wired on their accounts despite claims by KCCA of commencing payments.
There are also speculations that the payment has only been done for workers in seven hills something which other workers say is discriminatory payments.
