The event was celebrated at the Karuziika Royal Palace in Fort portal tourism city.

In his remarks, the Omukama thanked the president of the republic of Uganda H.E Museveni for restoring cultural institutions in Uganda and for his endless support towards the kingdom’s programs.

King Oyo also advised the people of Tooro and Uganda at large to stay safe during these COVID-19 times.

“Taking care of yourself means that you are taking care of anyone else around you. The COVID-19 prevention guidelines aim to ensure that we defeat Coronavirus and return to our normal lives sooner and not later”, King Oyo
said.

During the celebrations King Oyo launched vision 2045 in which Tooro Kingdom will promote, preserve and protect the tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Vision 2045 is also aimed at Youth empowerment, environment protection and health among others.

“We shall support our youth to develop skills and start cottage businesses to benefit from the massive opportunities resulting from the elevation of Fort Portal to the tourism city of Uganda”, king Oyo added.

In the same remarks the king also appreciated the development partners who are working with Tooro Kingdom in promoting and preserving culture.

“BRAC Uganda and other partners will skill and orient our youth to become problem solvers, producers, job creators, and active productive citizens to break the vicious cycle of poverty, ” King Oyo revealed.

In attendance was the queen mother Best Kemigisa, the Cabinet minister for wildlife tourism and antiquities Hon Tom Butiime who represented the president, local leaders, religious leaders and various invited dignitaries.

The 29year old Rukirabasija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is the reigning king of Tooro kingdom and the youngest Monarch in the world.
