In a bid to fulfill the April 2021, pledge to offer land to Senegalese music rapper, Akon to set up a magnificent Akon Satellite City in Uganda, the government has through the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development allocated land in Mukono towards the same.
Last year in April, the government revealed that it would give Akon “a place suitable in Uganda that has not less than 1 square mile.
On Friday, national Television UBC TV, reported that the Uganda land commission had handed over a land title to Lands Minister, Judith Nabakooba for the land which has been allocated to Akon for development.
The said land is in Mpunge sub-county Mukono district, central Uganda.
Akon Satellite City has been built in the singer’s native country, Senegal featuring amenities such as shopping malls, stadiums, and recreational facilities, and will operate under his cryptocurrency Akoin.
The Uganda government in April 2021, revealed that it would give Akon “a place suitable in Uganda that has not less than 1 square mile to set up a similar city.
In the report however, UBCTV did not disclose the costs of construction or date of commencement.
